Maid of Honour
Anna’s sister, built-in best friend, and chief organiser - Declan quickly learnt they come as a duo.

We met in June 2014, approximately 13 years (or 4,700 days) before our wedding day. Somewhere along the way, we’ve (sort of) grown up, built a life together, and gathered an amazing group of people we’re lucky enough to call friends and family.
In June 2014, gently encouraged by our parents, we travelled to Lourdes with the Limerick Diocese. Declan’s ulterior (and he emphasises secondary) motive was securing a debs date.
Divine intervention arrived when Fr. Chris O’Donnell assigned Declan the first reading and Anna the second, during “Mass on the Grass”. One small issue: there was only one reading. Our first conversation began and our first compromise followed - splitting it in two. Fr. Chris is still a close friend and we are lucky that he will be marrying us next May.
Following some enthusiastic courting (by Declan), we survived a disastrous first date in Curraghchase, and shortly after Leaving Cert results night Anna finally agreed to be Declan’s debs date. We became ‘official’ shortly after Declan moved to Dublin to study Business & Law at UCD.

Anna finished her Leaving Cert and then joined Declan in UCD to study Medicine, and we returned to Lourdes. This time, Declan accompanied Anna to her debs. We also took our first trip abroad to Paris. The travel bug began…

After another trip together, this time to London, Declan headed off on his J1 to Montauk, Long Island.

Declan spent the first half of the year on Erasmus in Milan, while Anna did her J1 in Newport, Rhode Island.
We reunited for our first big trip together, travelling Florida and the US East Coast.

New traditions arrived: Wimbledon summers and Limerick All-Irelands.
Declan graduated but will still claim Limerick ending the 45 year famine was the highlight of his year (life!). Anna, newly introduced to hurling, adapted quickly and never looked back.

Anna received her White Coat. Declan finished the FE-1s and started his legal career. This year saw trips to Edinburgh, Morocco and most exotically, the Aran Islands!

Welcome, Covid-19. A brutal final year for Anna, but the pandemic gave us staycations, including Sligo. Things clearly worked out.
Declan started in Blackhall Place. Limerick won the All-Ireland again.

Anna graduated and started her internship. Declan moved to London for work and discovered his favourite pub (The Compton Arms). He has since dragged everyone he knows there.
Limerick, inevitably, won another All-Ireland.

Post-Covid travel resumed. After Cinque Terre and countless London trips to visit Declan, Anna moved to Perth, Western Australia, where she once again watched Limerick win the All-Ireland.

Declan visited Anna in Perth and following his qualification, decided he had had enough with long distance. Before moving, we reunited at a wedding in California, then travelled through Panama, Colombia, the Amazon, Peru, Bolivia and Chile. We landed in Melbourne and, on our first night, Limerick won another All-Ireland. A memorable New Year’s Eve was spent at BeerFest in Launceston, Tasmania’s second-largest town.

After an incredible year in Melbourne, we headed home so Anna could start her BST scheme. Following the Australian Open and Melbourne F1, with friends, we travelled Australia’s East Coast by campervan (Vanny De Vito), then repeated the adventure across New Zealand. One of us even bungee jumped.
From there: Bali, the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Beijing, plus Berlin, Pamplona and London, before ending at a friend’s wedding in Palma, Majorca. We finished the year back in Ireland, with Anna in Mullingar and Declan in Dublin. Just to give the carbon footprint one last kick, we spent Christmas in New York.

In preparation for the mental and physical challenge of the engagement, Declan became a Hybrid Rockstar (Hyrox) in Copenhagen. He has not done one since.
Then finally, thirteen years in, Declan followed Beyoncé’s advice. On a hiking trip to Madeira, with a diamond shaped bomb in his pocket, he proposed at sunrise on Pico do Arieiro. Anna said yes. Naturally, we celebrated with… a seven day hiking trip around Mont Blanc.

Anna begins specialist training in Cork, confirming that long distance is nothing new to us. While on holiday in Sri Lanka, a war breaking out resulted in us taking six extra flights through five countries to get home.
Not boring. Never boring.

Maid of Honour
Anna’s sister, built-in best friend, and chief organiser - Declan quickly learnt they come as a duo.

Co-Best Man
The Middle child. Once gifted Declan a suspicious bottle of liquid he bought in North Korea. A shot of this will be taken on the morning of the wedding!

Co-Best Man
The eldest brother and he will let you know about it. Is professionally paid to feel your prostate.

Bridesmaid
Anna’s honorary sister. A friendship built on summers spent playing music and the shared fear ‘of missing a beat’.

Groomsman
Declan’s travel accomplice. 10 countries together but only one eviction (so far). Also a two time Hybrid Rock star and a senior hurling All Ireland club championship winner.

Bridesmaid
Two city girls bound by their country primary school roots. A solicitor by trade, Aisling is never off-duty, once famously scolding a taxi driver in Bali for dangerous driving.

Groomsman
Growing up, Declan spent more time in Shane’s house than either set of parents (or Shane’s sister) would have liked.

Bridesmaid
Once hosted a ‘Lululemon themed’ birthday party. Ailbe will ensure everything is perfect. No relation to Declan, or so we think…

Groomsman
Once broke Declan’s rib during a blindfolded game. Claims it was accidental. We remain unconvinced.

Usher
The Bear Grylls of Australia. Best known for surviving van life with Anna and Declan and a dingo encounter that becomes more life-threatening every time he tells it.

Usher
From Donegal to Dublin 4, Montauk to Mayfair, this self-described Benedict Cumberbatch doppelgänger once served Julianne Moore her lobster. She did not return.
